The Client
Agrium and PotashCorp just merged forming Nutrien. Each original company had their own way of doing things, including their own ERPs, databases and sets of customers. Internally, Nutrien wanted to start fresh from the ground up with a startup mentality. I was brought in as the first person and product designer to start this new growth journey.
The Problem
- • New branding created with out digital in mind
- • Sales teams had extremely poor user experience
- • multi-data bases of customers did not talk to each other
- • No cohesive digital language
- • Applications were not web responsive or mobile friendly
The Solution
- • User interviews from the ground up with the Sales Team

- • Improve 'Time to Use' scoring through Usability Testing

The Product and Outcomes
Working on the Nutrien Experience and Sales projects for over four years has resulted in huge innovative achievements for Nutrien and helped them excel and stay ahead of the competition. Creating client portals for the users to get all their documents, purchase products, and track their shipments and invoicing, to internal Sales team being more efficient at their jobs and streamlining their workflows so that they can focus on customer management and sales goals. The application that I led to design had moved over 900M in sales in its first year.
- • Internal Sales App on AWS platform that moved over $900M annually in its first year of launch
- • Modernized client portal, Nutrien Experience, with improved user experience
- • Responsive web application allowing users to access anytime, anywhere and on any device
- • Initial project was a big success that all other divisions in Nutrien copied the same approach
- • Started with just myself and the team grew to over 80+ people
Thi was a pivotal member for my program team. A real team player to ensure deliverables were met no matter the deadlines. Thi is a leader in the design industry, he helped shape the UX strategy and vision for our digital delivery team.
